AWESOME
Comic Book Collection

I just bought another 1,000 comics from Ebay. So, my collection is up to 1,500 or so. The ones I purchased on Ebay, most are in mint, near mint, or very fine. The rest, are much older comics, but also in poorer condition. I was able to retain some of my older comics in mint or near mint conditions, but I used to purchase them when I was junior high, or high school, at the near by flea markets for a dime each. (I am totally dating myself now, I can feel it.) yes, long ago, before there was the internet, personal computers, and X-Box, there were comic books to entertain kids of all ages. I'd spend my weekends at the flea markets, hunting down comics for a dime or a quarter a piece.
After high school, I lost interest, but had gathered about 400 or so by that time. I didn't bag or board them, I just stacked them in a large, army trunk I got from one of my Uncles. There they sat, until a few months ago, I thought I'd clean them out. I was surprised to find that I actually had so many. So, after boarding and bagging them. I set out onto Ebay to purchase another large set, so I can add it to my smaller collection.
While I was away, something odd happened. Everything in the comic book world changed. Not only are comics now $3.99 each, but the graphics are sharp, overly detailed, violent, sexual, and the story lines seem more sophisticated then when I was a kid. Has the times changed? Yes, in a world now where kids bring guns to school, and metal detectors are normal part of school security, we have entered into the worst phase of our evolution. Children are being forced to grow up quickly, and those innocent days of Spiderman beating the crap out of Sandman, to save his sweetheart, Mary Jane, is almost over. Now, mutants have taken over the world, scary, angry, violent mutants, and if they kill enough people, they get their OWN comic book.

Don't get me wrong, X-Men are my favorite comic books, and still, my guilty pleasure is Wolverine, with his adamantium claw that can cut through anything, his regenerative super healing powers, and his heightened senses, makes him one of the strongest and most popular of all the X-Men. But, he's also the loneliest of all the characters, and clearly needs to take a class in Anger Management.
When I give out comic books to my friends, I let them know not to show their kids the books because the level of graphic violence is not appropriate, I think, for children. And, for God's sake, will someone please learn how to draw Storm in something a little more then just a glorified bikini.

It was neat to see how the super heroes have evolved, Superman has longish hair, Spiderman's costume comes alive and makes him more powerful and gives him an evil side, Iron Man is flying around in a suped up, upgraded Iron suit, and Batman is getting darker and far more cynical then I ever thought he would. The line between good and evil is blurred, and being just a little on the bad side, seems to be in vogue right now.
So, for any comic book collectors or fans, I"ve got a bunch that are up for sale. These are probably the top 15 most popular titles in my collection.
